Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti believes a lot has changed at Chelsea, but the Blues have a good squad and have made some really good signings.
Chelsea are currently preparing for the final game of their pre-season tour against Real Madrid on Tuesday before flying back to London ahead of facing Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
It’s been a mixed bag for the Blues in America and they have only won one of their four games so far, but there have been some signs the players are getting to grips with what Enzo Maresca is asking of them.
Ancelotti believes Chelsea have made some really good signings
Ancelotti, who was in charge at Stamford Bridge between 2009-2011 and won the domestic double during his time at the club believes his former side have made some “really good signings.”
“It’s changed a lot. They invested a lot,” Ancelotti said.
“They have a good squad, good players, young. They have a young manager. They need to be a little bit patient, the owners, to take experience, to grow. But the signings that they have [made] are really good.”
The Blues have made some good signings with the likes of Malo Gusto and Cole Palmer, whilst players like Enzo Fernandez and Moises will prove their worth over time, but it just hasn’t all clicked on the pitch yet.
Things have certainly changed since Ancelotti’s time at the club, but patience is going to be required more than ever next season from both the club and the fans with manager Enzo Maresca.
Following the takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in 2022 their ambitious project has yet to get up and running and Maresca is now the fourth permanent manager since they arrived.
The club believe the Italian is the right man to take them forward and he plays a style of football they wish to implement at Stamford Bridge.
They now need to stand by and back the 44-year-old through thick and thin and hold their nerve if things get difficult next season because we will need to go through some tough times to come out the other side and get the club back to where it should be.
