Aston Villa like Trevoh Chalobah and he’s among a number of options as they consider possible replacements for Diego Carlos according to Matt Law.
Chalobah was left out of Chelsea’s squad for their pre-season tour of America and finds himself surplus to requirements despite playing a key role for the club in the second half of last season as they rallied to secure a top six finish.
The 25-year-old still has four years remaining on his deal which he signed less than two years ago, and following Chelsea’s return from America he’s set to continue training with the club’s development squad.
Chalobah among options Aston Villa are considering for new centre back
Chalobah has come through the ranks at Chelsea and the Blues are thought to want just £25m for the versatile defender who is comfortable in both a back three and back four and can also play at right back.
The academy graduate saw a potential move to Bayern Munich fall through when former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was in charge of the German giants and he also turned down a move to Nottingham Forest last summer.
However, Law has reported that Aston Villa are the latest side to express an interest in Chalobah and the defender is among their options of possible replacements for Carlos who is attracting strong interest from Fulham and could be on the move.

Chalobah reportedly isn’t in a rush to take a decision on his future but is thought to want a move to a club playing European football and he’s attracted interest from Crystal Palace as they consider possible alternatives to Marc Guehi if he leaves the club.
Villa would provide Chalobah with an opportunity to play Champions League football and is seemingly a club on the up under Unai Emery.
At around £25m there’s a real bargain to be had for potential suitors and it’s a shame Chalobah’s Chelsea career is coming to an end the way it is because he’s proven he’s more than good enough to play for the Blues.
