One senior 27-year-old Chelsea player looks like he has a real fight on his hands if he is to want to keep his place in the first team squad this season.
And that is because a new signing has apparently come in and is now being favoured over the experienced player.

Ben Chilwell is not old at all, and 27 is certainly not old for a professional football player. But in the case of Chelsea, he is certainly considered as one of the more senior players now because they have built such a young squad and many of the players are new in the door, whereas Chilwell is probably now one of the longer servers at the club.
But his future is now up in the air and you’d suspect that he might now look to leave Chelsea in order to find more regular first team football, with his minutes at Chelsea set to be diminished this season.

Still in the first-team squad but with no pathway to regular minutes, he is a prime candidate to be sold — though his wages and price tag narrow his potential market. Renato Veiga is currently favoured over Chilwell.
This will be hard to take for a player who wore the captains armband a lot recently being selected as the club’s vice-captain and a player who offers good experience to a very young squad.
