Chelsea are planning to make a move for former defender and Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi in 2025 according to reports.
The summer window may have only just closed, but clubs are likely to be planning their moves for January and next summer already.
The Blues were once again busy in the summer transfer window as they signed a number of new players, the most high profile of which were Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho, whilst several players also left the club.
Chelsea plot Guehi move for 2025
Chelsea were unable to land a top quality striker this summer despite pursuing Victor Osimhen right to the final hours of the window and another area many fans feel the club need to strengthen is at centre back.
The Blues lost Thiago Silva at the end of last season, whilst Tosin Adarabioyo arrived this summer on a free transfer from Fulham.
However, Benoit Badiashile’s form appears to have deserted him, whilst there are doubts over whether Axel Disasi is a good fit for Enzo Maresca’s system.
There’s a feeling that Chelsea could do with a top quality starting level centre back and TBR Football have reported the Blues are plotting a move for Marc Guehi in 2025.
Guehi came through the ranks at Chelsea before he left the club in 2021 to join Palace, where he’s gone on to establish himself as a key player and England international.
Newcastle were heavily linked with the 24-year-old, who is out of contract in 2026 and they had four bids turned down by the Eagles, who are believed to value Guehi at around £70m.
A move for Guehi does make sense and he’s certainly of the quality to improve the Chelsea backline, but whilst the price seems steep that’s likely to come down if he doesn’t agree a new deal as he will be into the final year of his contract next summer.
Interest in Guehi in 2025 is likely to increase so if the Blues are going to make a move they will need to start laying some ground work soon, but it seems clear a new centre back is certainly on the club’s radar.
