Chelsea to battle Tottenham in race for €40m rated teenage star

Chelsea are set to battle it out with rivals Tottenham for Leece teenager Patrick Dorgu who is valued at €40m according to reports.

Another summer has been and gone with Chelsea once again active in the transfer window with a number of new players coming through the door, the most high profile of which were Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.

The Blues were also able to move on a number of players including the likes of Conor Gallagher, Raheem Sterling, Romelu Lukaku and Trevoh Chalobah, but a solution for Ben Chilwell still hasn’t been found.

A number of youngsters were also signed for the future which is now the norm under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.

Often the Blues send three youngsters on loan to sister club Strasbourg or the French side will sign players with a view to them having a future at Chelsea.

Dorgu falls into that category and Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this summer the Denmark international was on the list of BlueCo, with the idea to sign him for Strasbourg with a view to having a future at Chelsea, but the Blues were put off by the price.

Leece are thought to value Dorgu at around €40m.

However, according to a report in Gazetta Dello Sport cited by Sport Witness, Chelsea and Tottenham are in pole position for the teenager.

The report adds that the 19-year-old was valued at around €30m last summer, but his valuation could have now risen to €40m.

It’s believed Leece have informed the agents of Dorgu they wish to extend his contract, with the report stating Spurs showed more interested in the player over the summer, whilst Chelsea appear to be reigniting previous interest.

Dorgu is already a full Denmark international and scored on his debut in last week’s 2-0 victory against Switzerland.

The left back made 34 appearances in all competitions last season for Lecce and is clearly one to watch for the future.
