Chelsea could lose another top youngster to Premier League rival after Liverpool stole Rio Ngumoha

Talented Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong is attracting interest from Newcastle who are said to be monitoring the teenager according to reports.

Acheampong is highly regarded within the Chelsea academy and made his first team debut under Mauricio Pochettino last season, whilst he also made his England under-19 debut earlier this month.

The 18-year-old reportedly attracted interest from European giants Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid over the summer and it appears he now has interest from within the Premier League.

I News have reported that Newcastle are monitoring the teenager, but it’s believed Chelsea’s stance is that the right back isn’t for sale.

The report adds the Magpies have made identifying younger talent a priority as they look to develop young stars into future first team regulars.

Chelsea haven’t shied away from selling academy players and in this day of profit and sustainability it’s been very advantageous for club’s to cash in on academy players, so it’s possible their stance could change.

Acheampong has made just one appearance for the first team and will be hoping he can add to that this season after being named in Chelsea’s squad for the league phase of the Europa Conference League.

So far this season Acheampong has provided one assist from three appearances in the Premier League 2, but  has yet to be named in any of Enzo Maresca’s match day squads in the Premier League, although he did make the bench for the second leg of the Europa Conference League play-off against Servette.

If Acheampong were to make the switch then he would become the third Chelsea academy graduate in the Newcastle squad after Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento.

The youngster faces a tough task to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge given in his preferred right back position the Blues already have Reece James and Malo Gusto, and perhaps the best step for him is to go on loan and play regular first team football.
