Jadon Sancho greets the fans at Stamford Bridge after signing on Deadline Day.

Sky Sports pundit opens up on what Sancho’s move to Chelsea could do for his career

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp believes Jadon Sancho’s move to Chelsea might be a “transformational” move as he looks to get his career back on track.

Sancho joined the Blues on deadline day on an initial loan deal from Manchester United which will become permanent for around £25m as long as Chelsea don’t finish in the bottom six of the  Premier League.

The 24-year-old had to wait until after the international break to make his debut but for everyone associated with the club it was worth the wait.

Sancho to get his career back on track at Chelsea

After a poor first half display Enzo Maresca introduced Sancho at half time in place of Pedro Neto who struggled to make an impact on the match.

The England international transformed the game for the Blues and was a threat to the Bournemouth defence throughout the second half.

Sancho was direct and looked to take his man on at every occasion and his performance was rewarded with an assist as he set up Christopher Nkunku for the winner in the 86th minute.

Chelsea fans showed their appreciation for Sancho at full time by loudly chanting his name as the players came over to applaud the away end.

Sancho was named man of the match on his debut against Bournemouth.

That warm reception will likely do Sancho the world of good after a difficult period at United in which he struggled.

Redknapp believes Sancho’s move could be “transformational” as he looks to get his career back on track and tries to find the form he showed at Borussia Dortmund.

“Let’s be totally honest, at Manchester United he was really poor,” he told Sky Sports.

“He went to Borussia Dortmund and he looked good in the Champions League. He did good things, he’s got his confidence back, his shoulders back and he’s enjoying his football again.

“This might be a transformational move for him, this might get his career back on track. He’s too talented a player.”

Chelsea will certainly hope they can create an environment for Sancho to thrive in and after his impressive debut the winger could be in line for his first start against West Ham on Saturday.
