Two players whose summers were intensely intertwined with Chelsea’s both scored over the weekend.
First up was Samu Omorodion. The Atletico Madrid striker came within a whisker of joining Chelsea, only for the deal to fall apart over personal terms. In the end he moved on a much cheaper deal to Porto, where he scored his first goal at the weekend after coming on as a sub.
The other player was Conor Gallagher who left Chelsea to join Atletico after an excruciatingly long saga. He scored the opener in their home win over Valencia.
We will be tracking both of them through this season to see what happens and how things shake out for both:

Funny how Gallagher warrants this coverage (presumably because “Chelsea News” so publicly ranted against his sale). Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic (who “Chelsea News” unfairly maligned for months and months while he struggled through injury and lack of playing time at Chelsea) gets know such coverage despite lighting up Serie A for more than a year now. Talk about a double standard! I guess the writers just aren’t big enough to admit when they’re wrong.
