Enzo Maresca was seen working closely with two Chelsea players in training in a possible selection hint for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle.
The Blues travel to St James’ Park for their second game against the Magpies in less than a week and will be looking to make it back to back wins against Eddie Howe’s side having won 2-1 on Sunday.
The Carabao Cup represents an excellent chance for both teams to get their hands on silverware this season, which they will be desperate to do.
Maresca gives Newcastle selection hint in training
Maresca will likely make a whole raft of changes for Wednesday night’s game and make full use of Chelsea’s incredible squad depth.
It’s likely that one or both of Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer will find themselves on the bench, with Micah Richards recently praising the pair for their on pitch chemistry.

The likes of Christopher Nkunku, Jadon Sancho and Mykhailo Mudryk will likely get the chance to impress, whilst there will certainly be changes in defence.
Maresca has mentioned that Wesley Fofana and Reece James aren’t ready to play more than once a week at the moment, so there’s set to be a minimum of two changes to Chelsea’s backline.
This rotation is set to hand the likes of Benoit Badiashile and Tosin Adarabioyo an opportunity to impress Maresca, with the cup competitions so far offering them the majority of their minutes.
It appears the pair could be line to start as Chelsea’s centre backs if the latest training photos from Cobham are anything to go by as Maresca was spotted in conversation with the duo, clearly giving them some detailed instructions about something.
The duo both started Chelsea’s win against Panathinaikos in the Conference League but minutes have been hard to come by in the league given the fierce competition for places at the back.
