“That’s when you find out” – Alan Shearer still not convinced by popular Chelsea star

Former Newcastle United and England striker Alan Shearer is still not yet convinced about one Chelsea star despite his rising popularity amongst the Blues fan base and continued good form into this season.

Shearer is probably the one player who is fully qualified to speak on this player to be honest, because he played in the same position and not just played in that position, but absolutely perfected playing in that position and scored a heck of a lot of goals for club and country.

EXCLUSIVE! Surprise Chelsea player impressing training ground staff, but not for his quality….

He is easily one of the best ever English strikers to play the game.

Shearer has some praise for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as well, but he is not yet convinced that he is there yet and says he has a long way to go.

Jackson has started the season very well for Chelsea and had a good second half of last season as well after an up and down start to life at the club.

Jackson has become a bit of a fan favourite

In words picked up by The Daily Mirror this week, Shearer said: “Nicolas Jackson is getting better and improving, but there’s still a way to go. He’s still learning, he’s still raw, but in terms of his ability, there’s lots you can see that he can work at to reach the next level.

“The important thing is, he is improving. He does still miss a lot of chances, but that’s going to happen.

“It’s a work in progress, but he’s looking a lot better when I compare him to last season.

“The 20-goal mark must be his target, considering he managed 14 Premier League goals last season.

“Once he’s done that, and I think he will do that, then the next step is to do it season after season, which then becomes more difficult because everyone knows who and what you are.

“That’s when you find out if you’re a top player or not if you can do it over a length of time. There’s ability in there and he will continue to get better.”
