Breaking news this lunchtime comes from Chelsea as one of the coaches has handed in his resignation after being at the club for 18 years.
Goalkeeper coach Hilario joined Chelsea in 2006 as a player, and although he only made 20 league appearances between then and 2014, he then went on to stay at the club as a goalkeeper coach, which is what he is now.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea now encouraged by progress of player who seemed a dead set to be sold!
However, he has handed his resignation in to the club, according to breaking news from The Telegraph this afternoon.
Thomas Tuchel has been given a boost before officially starting as England manager after Henrique Hilario handed in his resignation at Chelsea to become his goalkeeping coach.
Hilario has decided to leave Chelsea to work with Tuchel at England after the Blues made it clear that they did not want him to job-share with England.
Chelsea have not commented on Hilario’s departure, but sources have confirmed to Telegraph Sport that his resignation has been made official.
Blow for Chelsea
It is bound to come as a bit of a blow for Chelsea on the whole when a staff member who has been at the club for so long leaves.
But these things happen, and although I’ve heard that Hilario is a highly respected coach, I am sure that Chelsea will be able to find a suitable replacement for him even if it is always a little upsetting when a long term Chelsea person leaves the club.
Tuchel worked well with Hilario when he was manager at Chelsea, and he has seemingly pushed very hard to get him to join up as part of his England staff, something that Hilario has clearly carefully considered for a good few weeks as well.
I wish him and Tuchel well at England, and I hope this is a good next step for his career.
