Emmanuel Petit believes future Chelsea star Estevao Willian has everything to go and have an incredible career, but warned things can change quickly in football.
The Blues agreed a deal with Palmeiras worth up to £51.4m for the 17-year-old in the summer and he will join up with his new team-mates next summer.
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the teenager’s arrival, and it was recently revealed Bayern Munich tried to hijack the deal at the last minute.
Petit believes Estevao can have an incredible career
Chelsea have targeted the South American market under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership and have signed a number of talents from the continent.
As well as Estevao, Kendry Paez will also arrive next summer, with the pair regarded as two of the biggest talents in South America.
Estevao recently surpassed Neymar’s record for most goal contributions from a player under 17 in the Brazilian league, whilst he also became the first player under 18 to register 20 goal contributions in a single season in the Brazilian league.
The youngster has recently spoken of his desire to become the most successful Brazilian player in Chelsea’s history, and former Blue Petit believes he has everything to have an amazing career in the game.“I’ve seen him play a few times and he has something very different,” he told Casino Hawks as cited on X.com.
“He is the type of guy you are happy to pay money to watch. He has everything and can go on to have an incredible career, but things can change so quickly in football.”
It’s important not to put to much pressure on the youngster and it’s difficult to tell how good he will become, but it’s believed he will go straight into the first team squad and compete for minutes.
How good Estevao will become remains to be seen, but if Chelsea can provide the right environment and nurture him in the right way they have a future superstar on their hands.
