Enzo Maresca explains why he’s happy despite Chelsea failing to beat very poor Man Utd side

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has explained why he is actually happy after failing to beat a very poor Manchester United side last night.

The Blues drew 1-1 with United at Old Trafford in their latest Premier League match, which actually put them in fourth spot in the league after ten games played.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea pick main candidate for new full back transfer pursuit!

This might be one of the reasons why Maresca is happy, but really, you’d have expected him to be feeling disappointment after this game. Because in my opinion, this was absolutely points dropped by Chelsea and a missed opportunity.

United just sacked their manager and although I feared the new manager bounce effect, United’s players were actually so bad on the day, they were atrociously poor. Chelsea should have absolutely beat them and they will not have many more chances like that to take all three points at Old Trafford. I’ve not seen a poorer United side in their own backyward for a very long time. They were there for the taking. So I’m very surprised Maresca has come out and said he is happy.

So why is he happy?

“We knew it was a difficult game for many reasons,” Maresca told BBC Sport after the game. “We scored, we came back. We are happy because we knew how difficult it would be.

“The [United] players want to prove they’re good enough. A new manager with different ideas so we had to prepare a different way.”

I understand what he is saying here but really, I want to hear that he is feeling disappointed and frustrated after this game because as I said above, this is a game that Chelsea should have won. You can’t ever be mad about getting a point at Old Trafford, but I do think you can feel some disappointment in these circumstances and Chelsea were also just not good enough.
