Chelsea regard current star as one of the top three in the league for his position, it’s not Palmer or Caicedo

Chelsea regard Nicolas Jackson as one of the top three strikers in the Premier League according to reports.

The Blues paid Villarreal £32m in the summer of 2023 for Jackson and the striker impressed in his debut campaign in the Premier League.

Jackson scored 17 goals in all competitions, 14 of which were in the league and he was rewarded with a two year contract extension keeping him at the club until 2033.

A lot was made of Chelsea not signing a striker in the summer, with the Blues pursuing Victor Osimhen for the majority of the window, but they were unable to agree a deal with the Nigerian.

However, Jackson’s start to the season has shown that may not have been a bad thing and the Senegal international has six goals and three assists in 11 games so far this campaign.

Martin Keown described the 23-year-old as one of the most feared strikers in the league, and he’s become a key player for Enzo Maresca with Jackson starting every Premier League game this season.

Darren Bent believes the Senegalese is perfect for how Chelsea are looking to play under Maresca and he’s currently keeping the more established Christopher Nkunku out of the team.

Chelsea clearly believe in Jackson and The Athletic have reported the Blues regard Jackson as one of the three best strikers in the league, which when you think about it is hard to argue against.

Jackson has shown signs of improvement under Maresca, especially with his finishing and it will be interesting to see how he develops over the remainder of the campaign, but things look positive.

He’s likely to start Saturday’s game against Leicester, but with the fixtures coming thick and fast in the build-up to Christmas expect to see some rotation with Nkunku.

  1. Maresca should start playing Felix regularly not only on cup ties . The gapper should rotate his attacking players too . It good to see Palmer / Neto at the wing and Jackson upfront and Felix or NKunKu behind. Caceido and Lavia or Enzo at the central midfield . But Felix and NKunKu should learn to help in defence like tracking back and tackling to win back the ball . Premier League is tough league. Palmer should be rest his been man mark every game .
