Romano’s “no contacts” claims don’t clear up €50m man’s murky future and transfer whispers

With the January transfer window now just over 6 weeks away, Fabrizio Romano is starting to come out of his containment stasis chamber, and as he defrosts his lips are already forming the shape of Chelsea-related rumours.

Up first is a sale – while results are good, there are some players in Chelsea’s mega squad who aren’t getting the minutes they want, and that usually only goes one way – especially when they’re such a big name as Christopher Nkunku.

The Frenchman has started putting the word out that he’s not happy in his role as the B team’s creator in chief, and after a year out injured, beating up on 7 year old Armenian teams was only ever going to keep him happy for so long, let’s face it.

There have been extensive rumours about Man United links, but Romano says those are still very premature:

“My understanding in terms of names – Manchester United have not even started talking about going for players in the January transfer window. Amorim wants players with intensity,” the Italian insider said on his Youtube channel.

“For Nkunku there could be appreciation but there are no contacts to bring him in. We also have to see Chelsea side of story. Chelsea are not entertaining talks with any club.”

Nkunku’s future remains uncertain despite Romano claims

Chelsea may not be entertaining them now, but if the €50m man doesn’t find a place in the team before long, they will surely be prodded into action. The sporting directors may be able to tolerate an unhappy player on the bench, but they certainly won’t tolerate one losing value.

Once Man U have their new manager in the door and settled, we will start to see if their interest has anything concrete to it.
