“Was a mess” – Former Chelsea midfielder says new arrival worked miracles at the club

One former Chelsea midfielder has said that a new arrival to the club in the summer has worked miracles after arriving to a real mess.

Chelsea’s new ownership have had a rather up and down time since they came to the club, and it is only this season when things have started to look a bit better. It’s been pretty toxic amongst the fan base at times, and many of them could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. But is that light now there?

EXCLUSIVE! Premier League club make enquiry to sign Chelsea player that could lead to swap deal seeing striker going the other way!!

Part of the reason that the tides are turning is down to new head coach Enzo Maresca, who appears to have gotten the fan base on his side by getting better results and playing better football. There’s a long way to go, but things have improved a lot and there is some clear progress at the club, and not just on the Women’s side now.

Maresca has made a positive impact

Maresca arrived at the club when it was a bit of a mess, according to former Blues player Craig Burley.

When discussing Maresca’s impact at Chelsea, Burley told ESPN: “He’s walking into a huge club that was a mess with all these signings; I thought there was no way he could get it organised. But in fairness to him he’s gone like that: [Raheem] Sterling out, [Ben] Chilwell and all these players I don’t want you. This is who I want to work with. That’s been quite a clever move.”

I think he’s made some good points here. At the moment, the squad harmony seems pretty good. But time will tell if he can keep it that way. It’s a big squad and easy to keep happy at this stage of the season and when things are going well. But we are already starting to hear about some players becoming frustrated about not starting games.
