“They should be really excited” – Noni Madueke on whether Chelsea are in title race

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke was asked whether Chelsea are in the title race this season, which was the same question Enzo Maresca played down earlier this week.

The Blues are off the back of an emphatic win against Southampton away from home in the Premier League last night, and they are now within reaching distance of top placed Liverpool in the table, currently being second themselves. Liverpool only managed a draw with Newcastle last night, which will only get people speaking about Chelsea being in a title race even more. The season is long, but it’s a fact that whilst they are in second place, Chelsea are at this moment in time, IN a title race, whether Maresca wants to play it down or not.

Madueke isn’t really playing it down, and he even gave a cheeky little smile when he was asked about it. I’m sure not many Chelsea players want to get too carried away at this moment in the season, but you simply cannot ignore the title talk right now.

Fans should be excited

Madueke couldn’t help but smirk when carefully plotting a response to the ‘are Chelsea in the title race’ question. The player eventually told Prime Video: “They [fans] can get excited, for sure. I came to Chelsea a couple years ago and it wasn’t always like this. They should be really excited knowing we are not taking our foot off the gas and taking the games as they come.”

This is a great response to be honest from Madueke. He’s not throwing it all out there saying Chelsea are in the title race, but his response is still a confident and teasing one, and you can tell he believes we are in this race.
