West Ham are looking to strengthen their defensive options and are interested in signing Tosin Adarabioyo according to reports.
Adarabioyo only arrived at Chelsea in the summer on a free transfer from Fulham, although he’s not played as much as he would have liked.
The Blues have made a strong start to the season and currently sit second in the league seven points behind leaders Liverpool.
Tosin attracting interest from West Ham
Enzo Maresca has gone with Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana as his first choice centre back pairing, although with Fofana now facing a spell on the sidelines it presents an opportunity for the likes of Tosin and Benoit Badiashile.
Tosin started only his third Premier League game of the season in Wednesday’s win against Southampton and it will be interesting to see if he’s deployed alongside Colwill against Tottenham on Sunday.
The 27-year-old is one of the older players in the squad and he’s made 11 appearances in all competitions, and scored his first goal for the club in the Conference League.
The Blues are looking to sign another centre back whether that’s in January or next summer having not properly replaced Thiago Silva, and have been linked with Benfica’s Tomas Araujo.
With the January window fast approaching transfer rumours are heating up and Foot Mercato have reported West Ham are interested in Tosin as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
The report adds the Hammers would be looking at a loan deal for the former Fulham and Manchester City man as they aim to move up the table.
The likelihood of Tosin leaving in January would appear slim, with the prospect of Axel Disasi leaving much higher and he’s believed to be attracting interest from Serie A.
Whilst Tosin will more than likely remain at the club until the summer there’s a chance he could leave after one season with Chelsea clearly backing Badiashile and looking to bring a new centre back in.
Given Tosin was a free any fee would represent a profit for the Blues and the club could look to cash in on him after just one season.
