“Expect players arriving” – Enzo Maresca gets fans excited for deadline day

Chelsea play against West Ham on Monday night, during the final hours of the transfer window.

That means today was the last chance the media will get to speak to manager Enzo Maresca before the deadline, and they didn’t waste their chance to try and draw some good lines from him.

Asked whether Chelsea fans could expect any sale or any signings, Maresca certainly didn’t rule it out – in fact he said both were likely:

“You can expect players arriving and players leaving – it is like this in this moment. I don’t know about the players leaving and arriving.

So while he fended off any specifics, he did admit that there were likely to be moves. That much was clear already – there are still so many players who need to find a home away from Stamford Bridge, and we’re sure the club would love to bring some new faces in when some space has been cleared, too.

Chilwell and Chukwuemeka top of the exit list

Among those looking to depart, Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell are top of the list. They’re not playing at all, and are in a pretty sorry situation.

Then there are the likes of Axel Disasi and Cesare Casadei, who are certainly for sale at the right price, and have had serious interest. The next tier down has people like Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – also available, but without any concrete offers yet.

As for players coming in, it seems like a left winger is top of the agenda for the club, although fans would also like a new striker and some depth in midfield.

  1. Chelsea should consider acquiring Osimhen, Isak, or Delap. We have no need for another winger, as our current roster is sufficient. What we truly require is a striker capable of scoring more than five goals in a game, and Osimhen, Isak, or Delap fit that criterion.

  2. Enzo maresca is good, the only problem is that two player should be substituted (1),sanchez (2),jackson this guys are not playing well, jackson despite giving assist still needs to score goals, against man city he mixed an open net, sanchez keeps making errors and it is not helping the team

  3. My main with Chelsea is the goalkeeping department. Robert Sanchez should be departing. Jordan Pickford could an immediate solution is signed. Filip Jorgensen is also good. I don’t understand why Maresca defends Sanchez. The guy has cost Chelsea points . It’s time he’s shown the exit door.

  4. To me I see as if Chelsea is not serious when it comes to issues of getting a clinical striker at all,why talk about the left wingers yet there players who can play that role within the team
