Chelsea could turn to former striker as free agent to cover injury crisis up top – opinion

Chelsea have a real striker crisis on their hands right now as news broke that Nicolas Jackson will now be out until April.

The season ends soon after that so by the time he recovers, trains for a bit, and gets back on the pitch, he wont have much more of a part to play in this season.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea have laid down ground work in deal to sign striker BEFORE Club World Cup!

Chelsea are also without Marc Guiu, who is looking like he could be absent for a similar amount of time as Jackson due to injury as well.

Chelsea are apparently confident in the options they have to cover Jackson and Guiu but really, let’s be frank, there aren’t any! At least if you are looking for pure number 9s. Christopher Nkunku is a 10 and has been so poor when asked to play as a 9. Cole Palmer is an attacking midfielder as well and ideally we don’t need him isolated up front by himself. And then you are going to have to dig into the academy to find another 9.

Time to bring back Diego Costa?

Diego Costa back to The Bridge?

Chelsea fans have noticed that former striker Diego Costa is available as a free agent and maybe it is time to bring him back.

Costa is far from the incredible striker he was when he was at Chelsea, but I say do it. Why not? Bring him until the end of the season to help out, what is there to lose? If he’s so bad and can’t even be a focal point up top or be a target to aim for in the box, then use your options that you are apparently so confident with instead. But why not give Costa a shot? At least he is a pure 9 and in fact, he is the last fully successful pure 9 this club actually had and he left in 2017!

Do it!

    1. You’re right Balotelli is good at least he will prove a point, when you look at it in the order ways round you will understand that because their boths have been in the league before”which ever you wants to make used of amongs Balotelli or deago coast will understand, he’s coming in to help build a player in likes of moaeka because this is the chance you have to bring him in for future porpoise and you will agree with me that you’re making a right decision, so try and do something before we all dias here because of heart feel, why because we’re no more happy the way things are going right now. do something before something start’s doing us all.

  1. FFS just bring Costa in. It won’t hurt to have him as a striker coach afterwards as well. Just to get the mentality of our younger strikers right

    1. I totally agree with the opinion of bringing back Diego Coasa. Chelsea will have nothing to lose and maybe who knows. He might just be the missing link that we have been looking for.

        1. As a chelsea fan, yes bring him back.

He is dangerous upfront, knows how to play in the league and also can score goals when needed.

He can learn Jackson to how to hit the ball correctly to score goals.

  2. I agree he was a fantastic No9 back in 2007, but he is no longer built for the premier league. He’s lost his pace and hunger for the game, plus defenders are now more physical, younger and with speed. He went to Wolves and didn’t have any impact in that team, so I very much doubt he would be any good for Chelsea. David Datro Fofana would be a better option in my opinion if he hasn’t been loan out.

    1. Unfortunately, the reason Datro Fofana was brought back to the club, is that he has a long term injury, and it freed a spot for Carney to go on loan to Dortmund.
Whilst Costa might not be a perfect scenario, it’s almost presenting itself as the only valid option, should we still want to claim a top 4 spot come the end of the season

  3. I think he can bring an element of physicality and experience that may rouse
the younger players. On field he is a natural fighter which as long as he stays within the rules can give us the grunt required to play out ( occupy the opposing defenders eg by battling at the corner flag ) and manage the remaining last minutes of the game.

  4. When we the Chelsea fans were crying telling the Chelsea board to do something in the transfer window to buy a well balance equipped striker u guys instead buy a midfielder is not bad at all but u have seen what it have caused now Jackson is injured and no striker up front left.we have to suffer it small and be wise next time.
If there is chance to bring back Costa do it
Or you guys should bring me in am capable to provide in the future.

  5. Poor management of team by sporting directors busy buying wingers and midfielders can’t see the real problem

  6. Chelsea fc is a confused club both the new owners and the sport directors plus the stubborn coach Jackson to me is not even number 9 strikers for club like forcing on wingers and midfielder it sound very useless

  8. I really don’t mind bringing back Dioga Costa to the Bridge but knowing this owner they will never do it because he is from Abramovich time and they simply hate anyone associated with him. Try Sim Mheuka, who knows he may do it well. Unless we try we never know. Not like Maresca completely against starting his own players.

  10. It’s a pity that Chelsea is in this situation. What is remaining now is the British government to finish the destruction of the club and have a rest of mind. Russia and Ukraine are finally coming to the negotiating table and the British ruling elites may still remain paranoid about Russia and continue harming their economy.

  11. Lauren James will be a better option as Chelsea ladies are playing more exciting brand of football ⚽️
