Chelsea face striker crisis ahead of next match and may regret not signing new one

Chelsea face a bit of a striker crisis ahead of their next match on Saturday and they may well regret not signing a new one yet again.

The Blues have gone through the last five transfer windows and failed to sign a true and proven number 9. Nicolas Jackson for me will forever be more of a wide forward than a centre forward, and Marc Guiu looks decent but is also still very young and raw. Christopher Nkunku is NOT a striker.

EXCLUSIVE! The SIXTEEN players Chelsea made attempts on trying to sign in January but failed!

The Blues were linked with a host of new strikers in the January transfer window, with Liam Delap of Ipswich Town being the most heavily linked. They also looked at names such as Benjamin Sesko. However, they did not sign a new striker, something they have consistently failed to do in five transfer windows.

Now this might be something they end up regretting, because one of the above strikers is now out for the next match with injury, and he could miss even more time than just this game.

According to The Athletic, Marc Guiu is expected to miss the FA Cup fourth-round match at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday after suffering a leg abductor injury.

Hopefully not serious

The report goes on to say that Chelsea conducted tests over the past few days with Guiu still feeling some pain in his upper leg. The hope is it’s nothing too serious but he is already being earmarked to sit out the Brighton game as a precaution with more scans planned to take place.

However, Nicolas Jackson has not been spotted in any training pictures yet this week, sparking concern of an injury for him as well because he went down injured on Monday night as well, even if he did uncomfortably play on.
