The stunning stats which shame Chelsea players, manager and sporting directors

Chelsea have just been beaten 3-0 by Brighton in a game which is being called the worst of the Enzo Maresca period at the club so far.

It wasn’t just painful to watch, The stats from the game are equally horrifying:

“Chelsea didn’t manage a single shot on target against Brighton, despite having almost 70% of the ball,” pointed out TNT Sports, highlighting the absurd difference between how much ball we had and how little impact we made in the opposition’s box.

The expected goals were horrifying – 0.57 for the Blues, to 1.7 for Brighton. 5 big chances to the Seagulls, 0 for Enzo Maresca’s team.

We played the same opposition a week ago, and in that game we manged just ONE shot on target. So it’s a grand total of one shot on target in 180 minutes against Brighton. Let’s not forget – the preceding game to that one saw the Seagulls lose SEVEN – NIL to Nottingham Forest.

All we had to do was get at them, and we totally failed to do that. We are missing players, no doubt – but that squad put out today was stronger than anything Nottingham Forest can offer.

As Jamie Carragher said on the commentary, we were lucky to only concede 3, it could have been a few more if Brighton had made the most of their chances.

It’s just not good enough, from the players, the manager who is putting them out there, and the people who have bought them in the first place. The whole thing is rotten from top to bottom, as we’ve said time and again. We aren’t taking a step back in order to launch forwards, we’re just falling further and further behind.

  1. Maresca didn’t need to be told but as a coach of such a great club like Chelsea Champion league is a must. I won’t be surprise if Naresca gave another dumb excuse next week after the game because Chelsea were going to lost that match.

  3. Tactically Maresca is a fluke. How do you explain 2 losses to same club in a row from bad to worse.
The team has now becomes a soft patch to run over because the technical support is zery.

  4. There was nothing evident to show any kind of coaching/development/plan B, from losing to the same team a week prior. That is very worrying and came amongst a slide in form/confidence since the draw with Everton before the Xmas period and January transfer window. Jackson is not a natural finisher and his main contribution seems to be pressing from the front. When he is out we still don’t score but allow the opposition more space and time. Our center backs have looked vulnerable all season regardless of who’s been paired and no goalie can be expected to pass it from the back with a wobbly defence like ours. There has been no strong personalities/leadership for us on the pitch all season and Enzo is not animated enough in leading from the tech area on the side-lines. Possession counts for nothing and we need to be more direct sometimes. Our age driven recruitment policy is unexplainable given , Palmer aside it hasnt worked yet and very few look like they will even be in the EPL in a few years time. Having said that if we can only play one way and scared to introduce any experience then neither will we!
