Chelsea are finally getting into gear this January, with just 24 hours left in the window.
They’ve got a number of sales they need to conclude before the deadline, and Carney Chukwuemeka is one of the main candidates given his quality and potential value. Finally, after 6 months on the bench, it looks like a deal has been found.
Patrick Berger of Bild is reporting that the midfielder is on his way to Borussia Dortmund, and is flying to Germany tonight to seal the deal. There isn’t yet a final agreement, but they must be pretty close as “all parties are confident a deal will happen.”

Barring any major snags, it sounds like the deal could be announced tomorrow with plenty of time until the deadline, hopefully allowing the focus to move to additions.
Romano adds more detail to potential lucrative deal

Fabrizio Romano has followed up with more detail – he seems to think the deal IS done, and he has the details: it’s a loan, with a buy option included in the deal. There is a buy option included “for a value higher than [his] £40m release clause.
Dortmund will also pay a loan fee and cover Chukwuemeka’s wages. So for Chelsea, given they are for some reason not interested in playing him, it’s potentially a good deal.

Fans continue to be dismayed and question why a talented young player who has looked promising whenever he’s been given a chance, is now being cast aside.
Good luck in the Bundesliga Carney – it may take him a while to find his feet after so long out but we back him to be back to his best and really make hay in a very open league with tons of space for him to exploit, in an attacking team.
