Paul Merson is not only a major pundit, he’s also a Chelsea fan, and it’s at times like this where you want someone with a bit of passion to give you their thoughts on the game.
We enjoyed the insight Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher gave on their coverage of the match last night, but Merson gave a more emotive view on his team’s gradual collapse on Super Sunday today:
“They’re right up against it. If you look at that third goal, it’s worrying if you’re the manager,” Merse said.
“When you’re playing like they did yesterday, and everyone has games like this. As a manager, these are the games you look at, these are the games where you look at the character and think: who are the ones who are going to keep on running around, who are the ones who are not going to give up, who are the ones who are just going to keep blocking shots and try to make sure this game doesn’t get messy. And that’s going to be his biggest problem.
You can see the pundit speaking in the clip embedded here:
"Palmer makes Jackson, Jackson makes Palmer…"

Gutless, witless, spineless Chelsea concerning fans and pundits

Merson has hit the nail on the head. What’s making all this so depressing is not that we lost, or that we’re in a bad patch of form, it’s that the players who comprise this team (and will do for the best part of the next 10 years, according to most of their contracts) look so gutless and weak.
Who was doing those things that Merson called for, running around all game? Moises Caicedo, and that’s about it. We have just finished 180 minutes against Brighton with one shot on target. Which of the players who played in those two games can hold their head high today?
Sale the club to the group of people who knows to run Chelsea FC football club by bringing this team back to the top of the world . And have a right passion to the club . The true business of football sports is to win most every game and be a champion. Not buying young players and not playing them .
Maresca says 5 to 10years before we win anything well thats me done so no money from me for 5 to 10years i hope clearlake are happy with they choosen manager, What a loser.
Get rid of the sporting directors and maresca the man hasnt a clue.Bring back Abramovich
