No briefs here: Chelsea insider tells us exactly who the club tried to sign in January

I’m sure like many Chelsea fans around the globe right now, you are probably getting tired of hearing and reading direct club briefs.

It’s pretty obvious sometimes that the info being released by the media is directly give to them by the club. I mean, that’s literally how it works anyway.

Sources: Chelsea plan to look at goalkeeper setup ‘from top to bottom’ this summer + new CB targets NAMED!!

Chelsea were always going to be looking to throw some shade over the fact that they literally did nothing at all in the January window to improve what they already have.

They trimmed the squad with some dry loan moves for plays such as Joao Felix who joined AC Milan on loan on deadline day, and also Axel Disasi who joined Aston Villa on a dry loan also on deadline day. But these players will all be back at Stamford Bridge in the summer, and the club will have the same problem once again trying to sell them all.

They also failed to buy a striker, but I’m sure we will start hearing all the breifs now about how they always planned on waiting until the summer for that anyway.

However, Chelsea insider, and our own writer Simon Phillips, has other news.

Chelsea tried for a number of new players in January

Phillips, writing on his Substack site today, has detailed a list of players that Chelsea even internally considered going for in the January window, or they actually went as far as physically trying for them with contact made to agents and clubs.

The names mentioned, and he provides loads more detail in the actual article, are Liam Delap, Alejandro Garnacho, Mathys Tel, James McAtee, Jhon Duran, Evan Ferguson, Nico O’Reilly, Douglas Luiz, Marc Guehi, Dean Huijsen, Darwin Nunez, Dusan Vlahovic, Viktor Gyokeres, and Benjamin Sesko.

And of course, they ended up signing none of the above!
