Sources in Brazil claim Chelsea’s latest signing Denner Evangelista is worth more than the fee the Blues agreed with Corinthians according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues agreed a deal for Denner worth €14m on Saturday, with the teenager set to sign a deal until 2032, and he will join when he turns 18 in 2026.
The signing of Denner continues Chelsea’s policy of signing the best young talent from around the world, and they’ve heavily targeted the South American market under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.
Romano update on Denner
Denner isn’t the only Brazilian teenager the Blues are looking to complete a deal for, and they are said to be pushing hard to sign Gremio’s 16-year-old sensation Gabriel Mec.
Denner is a left back, who has come through the ranks at Corinthians and Chelsea clearly feel he has a lot of potential to be a top player in the future.
The 17-year-old has made 18 appearances in total for the Corinthians under-20 side, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Romano has provided some inside information on the Denner deal, and it appears Chelsea could have got themselves a potential bargain.
“On Denner, one of my sources in Brazil told me that in Brazil, they believe that this player is worth more than €10m plus €4m in add-ons, but Chelsea arrived at the right moment,” he told his YouTube channel.
Chelsea have arguably the two biggest talents from South America arriving this summer in Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian.
There’s so much hype surrounding Estevao, who scored a brilliant goal for Palmeiras last week and the Blues need to be careful not to put to much pressure and expectation on him when he arrives.
It’s great to see the club looking to the future, but fans will be wanting to see improvements made to the first team, with the Blues facing a crucial summer transfer window.
