Chelsea are gradually getting all their injured defenders back – but that hasn’t stopped them being linked with more signings to come, potentially.
TeamTalk produce quite a few exclusives, and this isn’t the first time we’ve heard them talk up the chances of Chelsea signing this particular player. They claim that Chelsea are “tracking” Feyenoord centre-back David Hancko, and have “identified him as a potential summer target,” with Tottenham Hotspur also in the race.
Enzo Maresca’s side have even “made contact ” with the Dutch club, “confirming their appreciation for him” as he lined us a summer departure.
The Dutch giants are said to want “at least €50m” for him. Hancko is 27 and the finished product – top teams like Juventus have seriously been in contact, and if anything it’s amazing that a player of his ability is still in the Eredivisie.
Solid centre back doesn’t fit Chelsea model

Honestly, it sometimes feels like the people making up these rumours don’t pay attention. Chelsea have a very strict policy of only signing young players at the moment, and it feels desperately unlikely they break
The arrival of 26 year old Tosin Adarabioyo last summer was pushing it – and that was only sanctioned because he was a free transfer. For all that Hancko may be very good and could instantly upgrade this team in defence, his age and likely price tag make this feel very, very unlikely for now.
Could that Chelsea policy change? We certainly hope so, we think a few older heads would be very helpful in creating a strong winning culture right away. Will it change? We don’t think so.
They will back the potential of the likes of Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile over the established quality of a player like Hancko.
