Report: Chelsea aiming to sign £50m rated star but face three way battle for his signature

Chelsea are aiming to secure the signing of Bournemouth centre back Dean Huijsen this summer according to reports.

The Blues are once again braced for a busy summer and it’s believed they will look to fund their moves in the market by selling as many as seven or eight players.

Chelsea face a critical window, arguably their most important under the new ownership, with the Blues looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker.

There’s likely to be a lot of movement at centre back with Axel Disasi set to leave the club, whilst there’s an expectation Trevoh Chalobah will also follow him out the exit door.

Chelsea already have 19-year-old centre back Mamadou Sarr arriving from Strasbourg having agreed a deal for the teenager in January.

The Blues are said to be confident on signing Marc Guehi, but they are also fans of Huijsen, with Chelsea said to have a good relationship with people close to the Spaniard.

The Independent have reported the Blues are aiming to sign the Spain international along with Liverpool, whilst Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation.

The report adds Chelsea are understood to have made more progress than Liverpool, but it’s believed Huijsen prefers a switch to Spain.

The teenager is understood to have a release clause of around £50m, which won’t be an issue for Europe’s top clubs.

Huijsen is clearly a top talent and would be a great acquisition for Chelsea, but the reality is the Blues need to add experience and leadership to their backline.

In that regard a move for Guehi makes more sense given his experience and know how, however this is Chelsea and it wouldn’t be out of the realms of possibility to see the Blues make a move for both.

  1. Imagine saying we should sign Guehi over Huijsen. Lost all credibility there. Guehi is average and won’t improve us. Huijsen is going to be a top centre back for the next 15 years. Anyone who thinks Guehi is the better signing needs their head examined
