One notable thing from the Chelsea team to face Fulham last weekend was the absence of Christopher Nkunku, even from the bench in that game.
After having been used time and time again by Enzo Maresca and given countless chances he didn’t really deserve, the attacker was fully dropped and replaced by Tyrique George as backup to Nicolas Jackson up top. George went on to score the equaliser to make the decision look totally justified.
Enzo Maresca has just been asked about this decision in his press conference ahead of the game against Everton tomorrow, and had the following answer about Nkunku and the dynamic with George:
“Since day one, I just tried to do my best for the club and every decision I take is thinking about the best for the club. I know Christo cost a lot of money and Ty is from the academy but I have to make these decisions.”

It sounds like, much like the rest of us, Maresca has finally reached the end of his tether with Nkunku’s listless performances. Asked about how Nkunku has been performing in training, Maresca defended his player, just as you’d expect:
“He has been good in the last week when he was out. We need to decide one or two players out and to give some of the young players a chance to be with us. It was just because of that but now he is back in the squad. He is training well. Probably in this moment, if he is in the squad, one offensive player has to be out for the Fulham game and that probably would have been Tyrique.”
He’s made the dilemma very clear to those above him who might be wanting him to put Nkunku in to protect his value – he can’t fit them both on the bench, and he wants the in-form youngster at the moment.
Maresca isn’t the right manager to lead this team with full of talent. They should not get rid off tuchel. Tuchel is much far better manager tactician than this maresca . He should be replace by well respected and excellent tactician than keeping maresca .with maresca competing in CWcup , Chelsea FC will be eaten alive and won’t win any trophies . This new owner I doesn’t think they want true business like Roman collecting prestigious trophies like winning EPL UCL EUROPA FAcup leagucup and soon on . They hired bad directors, they were destroying the club legacy . This owners and boards of directors don’t respect the value of supporters and fans that this club love by supporters and fans . The owners and the two directors should leave with maresca . They should sale the club to those love this club invest of billions and make the club champion of all season every season . Hire a elite manager coach with great vision of tactics winning the EPL UCL FAcup and so on . They hired amateur directors and manager . They shouldn’t not interfere with the manager of the team how to manage and how to play . Team selection should be manager pick . Maresca selections and managing the squad ruining the moral and confidence of the team . The player aren’t playing with heart to win the game . Only few are giving their heart to this club because they believe this club belong to elites group of teams globally. How I wish that their is more Roman who love this club and make this club champion of all season being admire all over the world and like watching them play every football season . How I wish Roman still owns this club and invest with right acquisition of players and elite manager coach hire . Hire good elite directors that the vision is to dominate every season of winning the EPL and UCL .
