The debate has raged pretty much since Christmas, as Jadon Sancho’s initial burst of form at Chelsea faded along with the team’s fortunes – should the Blues pay the £25m to sign him permanently this summer, or pay the reported £5m penalty fee to not sign him?
The anti-Sancho camp gained a lot of momentum, although the fact he’s picked up a few goal contributions in his last few games and improved his overall form has slightly swung things back towards the pro-Sancho camp.
Well, the whole argument may now be moot anyway. It was reported over the weekend that Chelsea’s win over Fulham had guaranteed them to finish high enough in the table that the purchase option was to be triggered, meaning it was decision time.
And today CaughtOffside repot that the Chelsea have “already activated the clause” to make his loan a permanent deal. It seems those in charge at the top of the club were never as conflicted as the fans debating the issue on social media.
Sancho set for Chelsea stay – but maybe not for long

We always suspected they would do this. Even though Sancho has largely disappointed, he’s a decent squad player at best, and for £25m we could do a lot worse. We wouldn’t be at all surprised if the plan was to loan him out and try to flip him for a profit further down the line, as was speculated back when the original debate was raging.
There’s set to be a few changes in attack this summer with Estevao Willian arriving and the likes of Christopher Nkunku set to leave. It will be interesting to see what Sancho’s status is once the summer ends and all the shuffling of assets is complete.
Signing Sancho is a good deal for Chelsea, but we the fans from Africa, we need victor osimhem to lead the upfront next season
Sancho is very good but wing play with a handicapped finisher is costing us alot. We need osihmen. Jackson should be loaned out or sold. For a premier league striker 16 matches with no goal is too disappointing to us.
We only need the likes of Victor Osimhem in the front seriously we need him in the team.. he can play like Didier Drogba my best man in the Club, please get Victor for the fans we want to see him playing as a big striker he was to Chelsea
Apparently he is heading to Manchester United
Jadon Sancho is one of the most talented footballers in the world.
Not being on form doesn’t mean that they leave him coz all of Chelsea players are not on form right now and even Paying 25millions only is not too much money.
If Chelsea signed Misha at €88 why not Sancho at only 25.
But we also need a very good striker like Victor Gyorencles
Why is everyone talking about Victor origen when he is only ever gonna be a possibility
I’m a diehard CFC fan since my childhood, but if Chelsea fails to sign Sancho on permanent basis, I’ll stop supporting football! Sancho is a good player indeed, and we should stop blaming him alone for almost All players’s form has detoriated . But something is telling me that very soon, he is gonna be a live wire again.
