“A statement victory” – Gary Neville reacts to Chelsea win vs Liverpool and UCL chances

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was on commentary duty yesterday and he has reacted to Chelsea’s win over Liverpool.

The new comes after Chelsea beat Premier League winners Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in what was a fantastic overall performance by The Blues.

Cole Palmer was back in fine form for Chelsea and is one of the reasons that they put in such a good performance, with the stats proving this as well.

Palmer was also involved in Chelsea’s first goal of the game in the opening minutes, as well as some good work by Romeo Lavia and Pedro Neto to setup Enzo Fernandez to provide a lovely finish to get things going.

Neville praises Palmer

Palmer was superb all game and found his mojo again, and Neville picked up on that first and foremost.

‘He’s the best player on the pitch by an absolute street,’ Neville said on Sky Sports commentary. ‘He’s been brilliant today, he really has.’

After naming Palmer as his Player of the Match, the ex-Manchester United and England defender added: ‘It’s been a brilliant performance from Palmer. He’s been a joy to watch.

‘He deserved that goal because he’s been the difference. A class act on the pitch throughout.’

Chelsea in for big UCL chance now

Discussing Chelsea’s victory at full-time, Neville said: ‘It’s a big day for Chelsea.

‘The Champions League race seems to fluctuate from week to week but this is a statement victory for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca

‘The fans knew how big this was. Liverpool were off it but it’s all about Chelsea today.’

Chelsea are now only four points off Arsenal in second place in the league!
