Champions League on the line: Chelsea face most exciting 3 game run in years

Chelsea head into their final games of the season with it all to play for.

Compared to some recent seasons where there’s been little to get excited beyond February, this is thrilling. There are 3 games left in the league with everything to play for – and each of them is a cracker.

If you were using sites like Jackpot City Casino to put some bets down on the Blues – now would be the time to do it. There are still great odds out there because nobody is really sure which Chelsea we will see. The one that lost to Legia Warsaw at home and couldn’t took 1 points off Ipswich from a possible 6 this season, or the one that put in a great performance and beat Liverpool at the weekend?

First up is Newcastle on Sunday, slotted in at an unusual 12pm kick off time. Even the best teams struggle to do well there, and we have a particularly bad record. With so much riding on this game, which is pretty close to a straight play off for Champions League football, the pressure will be intense.

Our only hope is that the early kick off means the atmosphere doesn’t quite reach its usual ferocity. But perhaps that’s a vain hope – we fear the Geordies will happily get on the pints at 10am if the circumstances call for it.

Still, early kick off usually throw things off a little, and that can only really benefit Enzo Maresca and his players in the circumstances.

After that we face Manchester United. Not as big a challenge as it usually would be, but still not a game we can possible take for granted given our record against the traditional top 6 in recent years. As opposed to an early Sunday game, this is a late night Friday kick off.

In that case, we’re hoping the Bridge is rocking and really inspires the team. United will have a Europa League a week later, and hopefully that means they take their eye off the ball a little against us.

If we can navigate those games and stay in the race, that leaves us with a final day clash against Nottingham Forest. Their form is faltering, but if they pick up a couple of results this could well be a true one off game for the Champions League. And once again, it’s going to be a tricky one. The City Ground will be rocking and the team will have their whole seasons efforts resting on that 90 minutes.

We can’t wait.
