Maresca finally did what Chelsea fans were telling him since January – and won 3 games in a row

We said in the build up to yesterday’s Liverpool game that Chelsea would need one thing above all else to get 3 points and a crucial win in the race for the Champions League spots – a clean sheet.

This team has had goals in it, especially at home. We had faith they could score. But could they keep the clean sheet they needed to make that goal matter?

Colwill and Chalobah come up big in important game

As it turns out, the answer was no. But the goal came from a set piece, where we can blame the coaching more than the players. Apart from that, it was a really solid performance from Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah at centre back for Enzo Maresca’s side, who kept Liverpool very quiet in open play despite the Reds dominance in possession.

We’re so glad that Maresca has finally seen the light and started playing this pair week in week out in the Premier League. If only he had listened to us a few weeks ago, and hadn’t continued tinkering by bringing in Tosin regularly and shuffling the back line around so much. Still – better late than never.

Chalobah likely to be sold despite more important performances

Poor Trevoh has proved once again that he’s one of the best defenders we’ve got at the club (and perhaps the best one who can stay fit), yet would anyone bet on him being here next season? It seems for the third summer in a row we will almost certainly try to flog him.

The links to the likes of Dean Huijsen and Marc Guehi aren’t going anywhere. We expect we will spend big on a central defender. Whoever comes in, if they’re playing in the Champions League they can thank Chalobah’s showing today for being part of making that happen.

  1. I strongly believe that Chelsea will go far in the future only if they can keep chalobar and colwill together, also to Paris them week in week out

    1. That will be more re-assuring if they push out Nicholas Jackson, because that guy is nothing close to a striker.

  2. Well done guys we are so proud of you as Chelsea fun’s keep it up with that team spirit. Love you all.

  3. They played well but they were less by one!
Jackson was only a picture or a shadow,
I have never seen a striker without any technicalities, very weak, and falling anyhowly like him!!
He is not the Chelsea type, he is not a striker you can rely on for the goals

  4. More mindlesss blather from SuperFrank:

“But the goal came from a set piece, where we can blame the coaching more than the players.”

Did you even watch the match, SuperFrank? No coach ought to need to explain to a professional footballer how to mark his man on a corner! Period. You have to be certifiably insane (and a shambles of a journalist/wannabe pundit) to claim Madueke’s matador marking of VVD on the Liverpool goal was down to coaching—unless you’re insinuating that Madueke’s Under-8 coach failed him when he neglected to teach him how to get touch tight, lol! It’s just the latest example of SuperFrank shoveling us a hot take (that’s predictably critical of the manager/coaching staff) that he can’t have spent more than 5 seconds formulating or else he’d have realized how inane it was on its face before clicking “publish.”

  5. Hello Chelsea I’m Patrick from Rwanda especially Chelsea fan, what we all want here in Rwanda is to keep our central defender travoh chalobah. He’s capable and we usually need him. Maresca should always use Levi and chalobah to keep them committed. Thank you

  6. Hello Chelsea fans all over the world? Please coach don’t sell Chalobah, the guy have been loyal to the club and giving he’s best wherever his given a game. They can do better along side Colwill, selling Chalobah will be the same mistake we did by selling Timori and also a player like Ake, Lamptey too. Am from Kenya forever blues. All the best Chelsea fans.

  7. Chelsea fans don’t have shame, next season again Liverpool will still beat Chelsea FC, people that have won a league which fc still dey investigate, and Chelsea FC are jumping like Everton FC that play Liverpool draw, shame to all the Chelsea FC and they fans.
