It’s ben a pretty sleepy first half at Stamford Bridge, perhaps as you’d expect.
Chelsea don’t have much to gain by attacking, nor do Djurgarden. Both teams seem pretty happy to play the game out. But the home team now have the lead, thanks to a very direct move right up the middle.
Tonight’s Chelsea striker Tyrique George dropped deep to pick up a pass punched between the lines by Tosin from the back, and George’s quick swivel gave him space and time to pick up a pass to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was dashing beyond him.
The former Leicester man showed amazing composure, rounding defender some defenders with a quick ball roll and feint then finishing nicely to make it 1-0. That’s his 4th goal in this competition, to add to 2 assists.

Dewsbury-Hall doing himself no harm with continued performances in Europe

Dewsbury-Hall has played more minutes for Chelsea than anyone else in this competition, and has got his reward with a few goals and assists now. His long term future is pretty unclear – with major additions to come in the summer, we think he’s likely to play even less next season than this season, but whether he stays or goes in the summer he’s not hurt his chances with some of these European showings, especially when he gets a goal contribution.
A shout out to Tyrique George for his assist too: great movement, a simple turn but one that sent the opposition midfield flying in the wrong direction and opened up the pitch perfectly for KDH’s run, and then a nice pass to find his teammate.
