Report: Chelsea agree €65m transfer, second signing set to join after Club World Cup

Chelsea have agreed a €65m deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jamie Gittens, but he will only move after the Club World Cup according to German publication BILD.

The Blues are expected to be busy again this summer and have already completed the signing of Liam Delap, with more new faces expected to follow.

Chelsea face a critical window and are in market for a centre back, left winger and versatile forward as they look to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of the new season.

Chelsea agree €65m Jamie Gittens deal

Having signed Delap Chelsea’s main priority is getting a winger through the door, and they’ve identified Borussia Dortmund’s Gittens as their top target.

Chelsea are short in the wide areas following the departure of Jadon Sancho, although Estevao Willian will join after the Club World Cup.

Gittens has agreed terms on a seven year contract at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues are yet to reach an agreement with Dortmund after having a £42m bid rejected earlier this month.

Dortmund are holding firm on their €65m asking price, and it’s thought Chelsea have changed their stance and are now prepared to meet it.

It feels like a matter of when not if this deal gets done, and BILD have reported Chelsea have actually agreed a €65m deal for Gittens and the 20-year-old will move after the Club World Cup.

The report states add ons will be tied to easily achievable targets such as games played, and more difficult ones will be linked to winning the Champions League.

Gittens scored 12 goals for Dortmund last season, including four in the Champions League and is viewed as a great fit for Maresca’s system.

Mohammed Kudus and Joao Pedro targets

Chelsea also want a versatile forward and have been linked with Premier League duo Joao Pedro and Mohammed Kudus.

The Blues are eyeing a replacement with both Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix expected to leave the club this summer.

Newcastle are also interested in Pedro, with Brighton said to want £60m, whilst it’s believed West Ham would accept less than Kudus’ £85m release clause.

  1. Chelsea sporting directors are clueless, 65 Million on Gittens, or even if turns out to be less, is sheer stupidity.

Pay that for Kudus. He can play both left and right wings, and has the skills to frighten defenders. Palmer said he and Foden were the two most skilful players in the Premier league.

Winstanly and Stewart ought to know this.

Throwing this kind of money at an uproven young player is crazy.

  2. Gittens is purely talented;A speed demon with an eye for pass and he is very good in both creating and scoring despite the fact that he is young.
He has got acres of room to improve and develop considering his age.
English is his home, hence needs no time to adjust.
Good signing though that price is slightly high.
He perfectly fits Maresca system and style of play.

  3. Maresca I Can Never Lie To You, All You Need To Do Is Pay Up That Bid For Gittens, Then Don’t Just Sign But Remember To Sell Beside You Can Sell The Following Players To Sign Some Stars As Well Like:Jackson Clubs Like Arsenal And More Are Coming For Him Let Him Go Delap And Guiu Is Enough,Madueke,Benoit,Disasi,Christopher,Felix,Veiga,Dewsbury,Sanchez,Loan Jorgensen,Petrovic It Your Decision Maresca But All I Have To Say Is That Sanchez And Pender And Filip Can Save Chelsea Goalkeeping Sell Two Or 1 Of Them And Recall Him Rather Than Wasting Money On Sign Martinez, Martinez Is Old But He Have The Strength But Probably Petrovic Is Younger And Still Have Enough Strength Than Martinez Thanks,Sterling,Chilwell Etc And Replace Them By Signing:Gittens,Hato,Elliot, Etc Pls Before I Say Goodbye Maresca It All Your Choice If You Want To Build The Team Recall Petrovic But If Not Sell Him Goodbye.

  4. If Jackson goes then u ne6ed a proven 9 which is hard to find and if Delap gets injured then we have to play a false 9 setup and Palmer does not play well there…he needs the 9 to draw the defenders to make space for him to create plays….need a LB Gusto getting cooked at times when Cuc is being rested…need a veteran CB like a 10yr younger Thiago Silva and a Gk that can play out the back

  5. That is crazy, instead of Chelsea sporting director add and should go for kudus play left and right, instead of gitten
