Chelsea winger could yet leave this summer despite winning over Enzo Maresca and international impact

It’s the 11th day in June – time to check out how our number 11 is getting on this month.

Noni Madueke finished the season as first choice, and has gone into the international break looking to impress Thomas Tuchel and cement his place in the squad. He was disappointing for England last night, but had previously had a good game against Andorra.

It was an up and down campaign for Madueke, who started strong with the rest of the team and bagged a memorable hattrick against Wolves, before fading a little mid-season.

A low point was definitely getting dropped from the squad on a couple of occasions by Enzo Maresca for a lack of focus in training or games, but by the end of the season he had regained his manager’s trust.

He finished the season with 27 Premier League starts. A return of 7 goals and 3 assists is solid, but the fact that he get any after January is not ideal.

Madueke future uncertain despite solid season

After a solid season, finishing with a trophy, which built on his first full campaign at Stamford Bridge, Madueke should be looking forward to next year and aiming to really take things to the next level.

However the rumours about a potential departure persist, and we can’t just swat them away.

We’ve seen, as in the case with Jadon Sancho’s loan not being made permanent that a) these sporting directors are pretty ruthless and willing to disrupt the harmony of the team for better results, and b) they weren’t happy with the return from their wingers last season.

It still seems odds on that Madueke stays, but with Estevao Willian and likely another winger coming in, it’s very possible that a good offer for Madueke sees him depart.

  1. CWc for Chelsea FC won’t go far . CFc has a egoistic manager and SD ….. Weak squad . No point to watch my fav team because of those people managing the club . Those two SD are Muppet , no negotiations skills . They need to reinforce the team but they didn’t . How can this club be the champions of EPL and UCL with this kind of people’s has no interest to win the EPL and UCL . Just buying kids for cheap . This club is a Muppet show . look at Man city signing and Liverpool they’re are consistent because they are hunger for success by winning the EPL and UCL . But Chelsea FC club becomes a Disney club without ambition to win . They in for entertainment . Yes they won conference league but is like you playing team for exhibition . This CWc competing against the best club and bringing the team less strengths . No wonder most clubs are laughing at this club . They don’t even know how to negotiate and they know they need strong squad and competitive team to win the tournament but send weakest squad . Shit management .
