Chelsea are planning for Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha to be part of their squad from summer 2026 according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues have already signed one striker this summer following the arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich for £30m, and more new faces are expected to follow.
Chelsea are still in the market for a versatile forward, left winger and centre back to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of the new season.
Emegha to be part of Chelsea squad from summer 2026
As things stand the plan is for Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap to be Chelsea’s strikers, although Jackson’s future was thrown into further doubt after he was sent off against Flamengo.
It was Jackson’s second red card in his last five games and he’s handed Delap a huge opportunity to make himself the first choice number nine for next season.
At this point it appears unlikely another striker will come in this summer unless Jackson leaves, but Chelsea have been linked with Emegha, and Romano has now provided an update on his future.
He took to X.com and said:
“Chelsea are planning for Emanuel Emegha to be part of their squad from summer 2026, as revealed in May.
“Emegha’s also expected to stay at Strasbourg this summer and then join #CFC project next year if all goes to plan. No confirmation on reports about Juventus move.”
Chelsea have previously been linked with Emegha, and the 22-year-old only joined Strasbourg last summer from Austrian side Sturm Graz for €13m.
Emegha scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 as Strasbourg qualified for the Conference League, and it looks like the Dutch under-21 international could be on the move again.
Nicolas Jackson linked with Juventus
With Emegha looking likely to be part of the squad in 2026 the same can’t be said of Jackson, and he’s been linked with a shock move to Manchester United.
His future has been plunged into further doubt following the defeat to Flamengo, and it’s been reported Juventus have held explorative talks with his camp.
It’s unclear what Chelsea’s stance on Jackson is or how much they would want for the Senegal international, but it will be interesting what both they and Jackson do if an offer comes in.
We don’t need this type of strikers,we need an experienced, consistent, proven striker,Chelsea fc should get serious for once
Maresca is not going to take us anywhere,he didn’t win us the conference cup, individual players did,he lacks that winning mentality,he can’t even make a right substitution from the bench when necessary
No matter CFc buys with that kind of manager is waste of space . He thinks his good manager no he ain’t . This team under maresca will be eaten by any team . This maresca every words he said has a hidden agenda . I hope the owners will not let go Santos or else they will pay a big price . Santos is ready he is not far behind Enzo caceido Lavia skills . Why on earth this manager playing James in midfield which Santos is there ready to play . The players of CFc are bored on his tactics , he has no adjustments .Palmer been man mark , he didn’t do anything . Felipe Luis out smart him and out coach him . Remove maresca before the entire team turn their back against him . If you’re looking for young manager coach Felipe Luis is smart . Look how he used his midfield to fullback . Don’t waste spending money buying players with that coach manager , he is a Muppet with the two SD . Your billions are wasted . I hope Santos stays , maresca out .
We don’t need this type of striker we need experience striker like osimeh
We need a prolific striker. Better to consider Osimhen and Leao. But tactical Naresca can’t take us far. I don’t know if the board is doing about out under performing team. Look at players like Nkunku, Palmer, Felix. There are dropping performance everytime.
I really have to say Maresca is not a Chelsea type of coach. The fact that a coach did well with a small team does not mean he will succeed with a big team. His choice of players are really very odd for me. It seems like he does not even know what type of players he currently wants. Jackson is not a Chelsea player too. A striker who needs 5 chances to score one goal or kick on target. I don’t see a leader in this Chelsea team or a player Chelsea can rely on in difficult. They are just looking for luck from somewhere to score when opposition are dominating. That’s where they also go into panick mode and start getting red cards.
