Chelsea made two changes at half time against LAFC, but Noni Madueke was not among them.
The winger has trotted out for the second half, and it has gone about as well as the first half, so far. Football.London’s Tom Coley has summed up the winger’s display so far on Twitter.
“Poor” Madueke disappoints again

“Madueke is going to get ruined for this display. He was poor in the Conference League final as well,” the journalist wrote.
He also provided a few excuses for the poor showing from the winger, who has just come back from international duty with Thomas Tuchel’s England.
“I feel for him a bit. He played for England so has to be one of the more tired guys, and put on his wrong side when he’s clearly better on the right. He hasn’t been good and this performance comes at a bad time for him after the LW interest, arrival of Estevao (who won’t play ahead of him), and general 2025 form, but I just wouldn’t go overboard on the bigger picture.”
A bad time to play badly for winger
He’s hit the nail on the head there. We had just written that this was a GOOD time for Pedro Neto to have scored as he and the others wingers need to prove themselves before the club go and spend big on other options.
By the same token, it’s not a good time for Madueke to put together a few stinkers in a row. There will be plenty of chances for Madueke to make up for it in this tournament, where Tyrique George is really the only other true wide option in the squad, but he will be feeling the pressure of the constant links to the likes of Jamie Gittens at the moment.
That is. Not correct.. it’s your own point of view. Madueke is not really doing bad at the moment even thought there might be pressure to do more and mind you, every player has bad days.. that does not mean the player is a flop.
That’s true Madueke is not a world class player who’s supposed to be on the start line up for Chelsea. Bring the likes of Mitoma, Wissa or Gittens. Madueke should be on the substitute.
