The Athletic explain whether Chelsea will move for Mike Maignan in the second summer window

The Athletic have explained whether Chelsea will still make a move to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan in the second transfer window this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has just dropped the bad news that the Mike Maignan to Chelsea deal is now OFF after a week of negotiations and Chelsea now failing to get that deal done.

Today is the day where the first summer transfer window closes after only being open from the start of June. But it’s not closed for long as it reopens again on June the 16th. This is just a chance for clubs to get deals done before the Club World Cup starts.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea make contact to sign Premier League and England star this summer!!

Time to do some deals

Chelsea have been busy trying to get deals done and doing various other bits of business in the last 10 days. One new signing, Mamadou Sarr, who was announced yesterday, has predictions over his head to become world class very soon.

They’ve also signed Liam Delap already of course, and Alan Shearer was full of praise for The Blues new young striker yesterday.

In this second summer transfer window, might Chelsea move back in for Maignan?

Not according to The Athletic, no.

They report that Chelsea have ENDED their interest in signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan this summer.

This means they will probably not sign another goalkeeper instead this summer or if they do still want one, then they will have to find a new one to bring in.

It’s not a good look seeing as they could have landed Maignan for a very reasonable fee and instantly upgraded the goalkeeper department.

  1. I don’t know this sporting directors try to save money or are they just born frugal? Spending £21ml for Kellyman who hasn’t played yet but adding £3ml more for Maignan is too hard? Now if the fans still see robert sanchez btween the stick and not Petrovic there will be fans backlast and chaos will be there. Just agree Osimhen wage demand and sign him. We won’t look for another strikers for 6 to 7 years. If they sign Garnacho and ignore Osimhen CHELSEA will be as good as DEAD.
