Another summer is passing by, and that means another youth tournament and another wave of young football talents emerging from it.
The Netherlands won this summer’s U19 Euros, and you can bet your bottom dollar there were a serious number of scouts in attendance. All of them will have noticed one player – Kees Smit. he won the most valuable player award for the tournament as the Dutch stormed to victory, and according to TransferMarkt there are now a host of clubs watching him.

Alkmaar prepare for serious offers for their top youth talent
AZ Alkmaar have a real talent on their hands. Smit scored 4 goals from central midfield at the tournament and is expected to get a debut senior callup later this summer. With 18 league appearances for Alkmaar’s first team last season, the teenager has very much progressed to senior football now.
Real Madrid have apparently tracked the youngster for “several years,” and of course the kid is a fan of Los Blancos. Aren’t they always? Also in the race are Bayern Munich, local giants Ajax, Man U, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea.
Alkmaar want €20m for the youngster, but would ideally like to keep him where he is for another year.

If you want to hear some very positive quotes about the youngster, you just have to check out what Eredivisie expert Kevin Lux said to Transfermarkt. He called Smit a “raw diamond” with “great potential.”
His chances of being a regular starter have grown now, and is a “great passer… a better version of Frenkie de Jong.”
We’re sold. Let’s buy him and send him to Strasbourg before Madrid get their hands on him.
