Sky Germany: Personal terms “almost agreed” for £50m sale to Premier League rival

We’re still digesting Chelsea’s Club World Cup quarter final win over Palmeiras, but meanwhile transfer action seems to be really kicking into gear.

Fabrizio Romano put out information a few moments ago that Arsenal were “advancing on personal terms” with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. He adds that the winger hasn’t asked to leave Chelsea, but is open to a move.

Plettenberg claims personal terms “almost agreed”

Now fellow insider Florian Plettenberg has put out his own version, saying that personal terms are “almost agreed” and that the winger has the “green light to join Arsenal.”

Both Plettenberg and Romano agree on one thing though – that there’s not yet a deal between Chelsea and Arsenal over a transfer fee. Plettenberg says “no agreement yet, but the deal is on”, while Romano says there is “nothing agreed or close between the clubs yet.”

The two insiders have been battling back and forth over this deal. A few days ago they disagreed over whether a bid had been made.

Deal looks closer than ever after latest reports

While the fact that there’s not yet a fee agreed makes us somewhat cautious, it’s rare that players are allowed to get too deep into personal terms talks unless there’s the basic framework of an agreement between the clubs. Clearly both sides think they can find a deal, or they wouldn’t be getting into the details of his contract in such detail.

A fee of around £50m has been mentioned.

Enzo Maresca stayed pretty neutral on the topic, but made it clear that he only wanted players who wanted to be at Chelsea. It doesn’t seem like Madueke is driving this move, so he may end up going despite being happy.
