We’re 3 weeks into the new Premier League season, and just as we’re picking up some momentum, we come crashing into the first international break.
It’s so frustrating – and the fact that there’s one next month is even more annoying.
Still, it provides a natural first break in the season to take stock of what we’ve seen so far. Anyone interested in English Premier league betting will already be looking to check out how their predictions for the season are panning out so far.
It’s crazy to look at the table given 3 fixtures isn’t enough to judge anyone on – some have had a really hard run of 3 while some (like Chelsea) have had relatively easy games.
Against Crystal Palace we struggled, looking unable to break apart their organised defence. Against West Ham we had an easy ride against a broken team. In yesterday’s game against Fulham we didn’t look great in the first half – but were handed some breaks from the referee and made the most of them.
So even with 3 games down, it remains hard to get a read on our level this season. We need more evidence, and we also need to see us playing against some big teams where we will have a more balanced game.
What of our rivals? Arsenal have spent the most and have added the attacking depth that they needed to really be contenders. However their performances so far haven’t been sparkling – they look like they will need some time to warm up.
Manchester City look vulnerable, a little like last season, although Rodri’s return should see them get better and better. Reports of Manchester United’s improvement seem to have been greatly exaggerated – they look like they will have another season of chaotic games and results.
Tottenham worried us with some strong displays and then went and lost to Bournemouth at home. Thomas
Just like last year, Liverpool look like they will be the ones benefitting just from having some consistency and stability. While everyone else is getting up to speed, they may be able to build up a decent lead.
But the Reds have new players too, and they look like they too might need to take a step backwards in order to take two steps forward.
This is an exceptionally open season, with all the top teams looking a little undercooked. We’re really excited for the week where we face Bayern Munich and Man United later in September so where we can see where we stand against the very best.

as much as Chelsea can impress at times, my biggest worry is the inconsistency of play; how on earth could Crystal Palace & as well as Fulham (until one could see the Coach enjoying himself!) give us (fans) such BP. c’mon Chelsea………
