Jamie Carregher does not rate Chelsea still, and now he’s made a bizarre prediction about Chelsea and the Champions League.
As we know, the Blues are back in the Champions League this season after some time away from it, and it’s been a long awaited return for the club.

The new owners have been battling adversity and criticism to build what they believe is a squad that is ready to challenge on all fronts next season, including in the Champions League. Of course, football is unpredictable and can often throw up major surprises, but surely Chelsea will make it out of the group stages of the competition at the very least!?
I’m not a betting man but if I was, I would certainly drop some cash on Chelsea getting out of their Champions League group and into the knockout stages. It would be quite bizarre to bet otherwise, right?

Carragher doesn’t rate Chelsea’s chances
As you can see in the vide clip posted on X, Carragher said on a recent show on The Overlap:
“Hot take on Chelsea, I don’t think Chelsea will qualify out of the Champions League group stage.”
I have a feeling that this opinion, just like many Carragher opinions on Chelsea of late, may well come back around and bite him in his butt!
Chelsea on fire
As I said, football is unpredictable and can be inconsistent, but right now Chelsea are on fire and have just won the Club World Cup by beating PSG, whom many deem as the best team in the world, with absolute ease.
So to write them off the UCL so easily is just madness from Carragher.

Carragher would do well to remember the adage: “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” The guy is an ass. His football commentary is mostly blather that lacks any real intelligence and on the American UCL broadcasts his treatment of Kate Abdo last year was shameful. Can’t understand why he still has a job in punditry.
