“Worst we’ve played… we’re not kids anymore” – Chelsea player slams his teammates for performance

Trevoh Chalobah has spoken to Sky Sports following Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Man U at Old Trafford.

The Blues were down to ten men early on after Robert Sanchez’s red card, and from there things went really wrong. Enzo Maresca made defensive subs but the team went 2-0 down anyway.

Even a red card for Man U and Chalobah’s late goal wasn’t enough to spark much for a broken looking Blues team.

Chalobah claims Chelsea put in “worst” showing of the season

“We have to look at ourselves as players. It wasn’t good enough for ourselves, for the club. The first 15 minutes is the worst we’ve played this season. We have to reflect on that as a team and learn from this,” the defender said.

“With the red card that happens, you go 2-0 down in the game, any team you play against, it’s always difficult coming back. We struggled in the first half. It’s always difficult going down to 10 men and you can see that United were up for it. They put us under pressure. It wasn’t good enough at our end. We couldn’t get going in the first half.

“Things like this happen in the season. We can’t say we’re kids anymore, we’ve played in the Premier League long enough now. We have just got to learn from this and move forward.”

Defender shows refreshing honestly discussing dreadful game

That’s just the kind of honesty we want from our players. Today was not good enough, and all of the promise of a good summer is draining away pretty rapidly. Man U may be a big team but they’re not a good team, and losing today is a disaster in the long run.

The league looks really strong this year and we’re dropping points steadily already.

  1. We have the worst defence in the prem, terrible goalie 2 central defenders that would have trouble getting in a championship side, a manager that puts square pegs in round holes for no good reason and owners that are nonces and love buying little kids.

  2. Maresca is causing us all lost!
U are down by a man and still went on to remove those that could have been threats to Man United.

  3. Everything to me is fine, except Maresca. He doesn’t know how to do subs. How can you sub out all your best players just because of a single red card? If Di Matteo has subbed out Drogba, that Brazilian that gave us the first goal and also Lampard just because of the red card against Barcelona in the 2012 UCL, tell me how Chelsea would have equalized Barca after 2 goals down. They eventually won the UCL.

  4. Strange substitutions today cost us in long run, we have to step up our performances can’t keep intensity low slow play will never work in premiership, Manchester even though not that good as team carried from 1st whistle intensity

  5. 5 games in and we’re already 7 points off the top. The inexperience was so obvious in Munich, we had boys playing against Bayern’s men. These defenders especially Tosin didn’t take ownership of situations, the team was sloppy with their passes and what’s with our coach always putting right backs in midfield? The team is a mess right now and I don’t even think Colwell returning will change much. All these central defenders have to GO besides Chalobah… period

  6. I said to my friends when we appointed the manager, he’s not good enough for chelsea and I wanted him out then, I know that we won 2 cups and nothing has changed for me I still want him out, the style of football is not good he’s not getting the best out of the players and I think that is because they don’t like the style of football they are being forced to play, I want him gone.
