Report: Chelsea ace saw late move collapse, one possible exit route remains

    Axel Disasi saw his loan move to AS Monaco collapse because Chelsea’s international loan quota was full according to reports.

    Disasi was one of a number of players the Blues wanted to move on this summer, but despite interest and offers he’s still at the club.

    The Frenchman spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he made ten appearances, but Unai Emery’s side opted against signing him on a permanent basis.

    Disasi has since returned to Chelsea and is training with the now infamous “bomb squad,” alongside David Datro Fofana and Raheem Sterling.

    The 27-year-old had interest from Bournemouth and West Ham, whilst Disasi reportedly turned down moves to three Premier League clubs on deadline day.

    Besiktas are thought to be pursuing a move for Disasi, whilst Saudi side Neom are believed to be considering another approach.

    However, according to Caught Offside Disasi saw a late move to former club Monaco collapse due to Chelsea having used their full quota of international loan spots, with the last one taken by Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich.

    The report adds it’s now inevitable Disasi will leave Chelsea in January, with Crystal Palace another club who’ve shown interest in the defender.

    Raheem Sterling happy to wait for his next club

    Disasi wasn’t the only player Chelsea failed to move on before deadline day, with Sterling also falling into that category.

    Sterling is said to have had interest from up to five clubs, including three in the Premier League, but the Blues didn’t receive a single offer for him on deadline day.

    It’s believed Sterling is happy to sit and wait for his next club, whilst it’s thought to be unlikely Chelsea will pay the 30-year-old off, although that discussion is yet to have taken place.
