“Excused from training” – Federation confirms Chelsea player has been injured on international duty

A Football Federation has confirmed that a Chelsea player has picked up an injury whilst on international duty this weekend.

There are far too many international breaks during a domestic season and these players are forced to play too much football.

EXCLUSIVE! Interview with Chelsea cult hero Ramires!

As well as these international break disrupting the flow and momentum of a domestic season, especially one that is just three games old, they are just really very bland and boring for football fans and not many people are really that interested in watching the games. The England vs Andorra game earlier this weekend was just dull.

But the other negative about having all of these international breaks is extra risk of injuries to our players. We already had a scare to Joao Pedro whilst out on international duty with Brazil this weekend.

And we all know that captain Reece James does not need to be playing extra games despite being superb for England against Andorra over the weekend. Darren Bent discussed recently whether he would have started him or not.

But now, we actually do have a Chelsea player who has gotten injured out on international duty.

The Portuguese Football Federation has confirmed, in words picked up on X, that Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo has picked up an injury whilst out on international duty with them.

The statement reads:

“The Chelsea midfielder was excused from training due to a muscle problem in his right thigh, which he suffered after training on Monday.

“The athlete was evaluated by the Portuguese Football Federation’s Health and Performance Department on Tuesday morning and was declared unavailable.”

Let’s hope we don’t get any more

With more games to play this week, let’s hope that we come through the rest of it unscathed and do not get any more injuries ahead of our next game at the weekend.

  1. Essugo has barely played any minutes this season.
international breaks give some players valuable time on the pitch
Injuries are part of the game, more so nowadays as training is more intense
Let’s hope it’s not too serious
