“It’s useless” – Enzo Maresca will enrage Chelsea fans with his words on major incident

Chelsea won today but were given an incredible 4th red card of the season when Malo Gusto made a silly slide tackle to pick up a second yellow.

Leon Osman went as far as to call it “the stupidest tackle in the world.”

Maresca continues to defend his braindead players

Malo Gusto's silly red card.
Malo Gusto’s silly red card.

But Enzo Maresca has consistently defended his players, despite their braindead moves like this.

If you were wondering what the coach would say this time, whether he would double down on defending his players once again or actually openly criticise them… just check this out:

“Again, it’s something we can do better. But I am not concerned. There are some of you who ask why I am not concerned. We can avoid it, for sure, but for me, the desire of the players is important,” Maresca said in his press conference after the game.

“It’s useless to make a second yellow card with a foul but Malo showed his desire. It’s the balance but we can avoid that, for sure.”

Honestly, his policy of letting them off the hook every time clearly isn’t working – why not try a different approach?

He doesn’t have to tear them apart publicly, just make it clear that he’s actually doing something to change this behind the scenes. Otherwise fans are left frustrated by a lack of progress in an area which is going to cost us time and again.

In other news…

While Gusto was infuriating us, Josh Acheampong and Reece James were delighting us. They spoke to TNT Sport at full time about their feeling having played a key part in the win.

You can see the goals from Josh, Reece and Pedro Neto in the videos here. That second half salvo earned us 3 points and lets us relax in the second half.

  1. Why not him be substituted than Santos . ? Santos box to box player has a chance to score and as will he knows to help defensively. The problem with this manager they luck to trust player and they pick their favourites which unfair to others players . They should have play Garnacho behind jao . You see the importance of guiu , his pressing gives the defenders panic . If he only given more regular playing time he will improve than being in the bench . They should give garnacho , Neto and estavio freedom to play inside than being stuck in one position . Hato should be playing CBs than being deputy of cucu . They need to find deputy for James and cucu .Hato best position is CBs at the left . Cucu with caceido as a pivot will be classic . Antwi can deputies James and Samuel Smith ishe can deputies cucu .

  2. Why is this page always whining about what the coach or the team says? Are you fan page or a news page? You can’t be both. If he says he’s not concerned with their discipline, then he must have a reason to not be concerned with that, he’s already won us titles, he’s made progress in the league with the revolving door of players, but it’s never enough with football fans, always complaining, always demanding like you know more than the experts and professionals.

  3. SuperFrank apparently isn’t happy unless he’s “stirring the pot” with his hyperbole. “Enraged?” Why would anyone who isn’t already mentally ill be “enraged” by the manager admitting Gusto made a port decision but applauding his commitment??? What else do you expect him to say? Do you honestly think a public flogging helps the team or Gusto? If you’ve actually played football you’d know that any coach worth his salt picks his moments for excoriating a player publicly very, VERY carefully. So, to be “enraged” that he didn’t do so in this instance says a heck of a lot more about SuperFrank than about Maresca. At this point Maresca has done more than enough to prove he knows better than SuperFrank on how to manage these players!
