Pundit says with Enzo Maresca Chelsea will “start to compete” in 3-4 years time

One pundit says that with Enzo Maresca in charge, Chelsea will “start to compete” in 3-4 years time!

The comments come after Chelsea beat the reigning Premier League Champions Liverpool 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night in what was an emphatic Premier League encounter.

EXCLUSIVE! Real Madrid readying Enzo Fernandez offer and we can reveal the SIX replacements Chelsea are looking at!

I personally don’t think football matches are quite as entertaining as they used to be for many reasons really, at least overall. But you do get games like this one that gets played out and is very enjoyable to watch.

19-year-old Estevao Willian grabbed the winning goal on the night and talking about entertaining, this is a player who is hugely entertaining whenever he comes onto the pitch. So much so that he is Who Scored’s highest rated U21 player in the Premier League so far this season.

But despite all that positivity, former player turned pundit Robbie Earle, doesn’t believe Chelsea will properly be competing until around 3-4 seasons into Enzo Maresca’s reign as Blues boss.

As cited on X, Earle said on Enzo Maresca:

“I just think he’s one of those managers who doesn’t get credit. He’s difficult to play against. Technically, he’s a very smart operator.

“He’s building something. When Klopp went in at Liverpool, it took him 3 or 4 years to get to where he wanted to. I think if you give Enzo Maresca a similar time at Chelsea, Chelsea will start to compete.”

Time will tell

None of us can predict the future of course so only time will tell what happens with Chelsea and Maresca. But huge wins like that one on Saturday will certainly help the cause and give them all some needed confidence at this point.
