Exclusive says Chelsea in “strongest position” to sign €30m talent after sending scouts this week

The focus today in Chelsea world is all about the win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and quite rightly so. It was a big win and 3 important points for the Blues after the international break.

But there’s always room for a little more transfer chatter, right? It’s Chelsea, after all.

Chelsea interested in sister club’s rising star

Chelsea are now not just one entity, they also incorporate their sister club Strasbourg. And today’s rumour involved both. The French side have done an incredible job scouting young players, and the pipeline to Chelsea is going strong.

The latest rumoured addition is Guela Doue, the young full back who starred in the 3-3 draw with PSG at the weekend. CaughtOffside claim that Chelsea had scouts in place to watch the game and are in the “strongest position” to sign the 23 year old. However, Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford also had representatives there to watch him.

From Europe, AC Milan and RB Leipzig are mentioned as also having interest.

A fee of more than €30m will put a lot of people off. Chelsea already have an incredible right back in Reece James, but he can only play a limited amount. We are a little sick of Malo Gusto, and many fans would happily see Doue brought in as a replacement.

A January move anywhere looks very unlikely – his value is only going to improve if he keeps playing well and Strasbourg make it back into Europe next year.

In other news…

James tried to defend the red card picked up by Gusto against Nottingham Forest, but honestly it’s pretty indefensible.

James was excellent against Forest and after the game he also praised young goalscorer Josh Acheampong. he told Enzo Maresca to pick the defender more often in order to help him improve.
