It’s the international break right now, giving us all a chance to take our breath after a thrilling, up and down season for the Blues so far.
Wins when you expect losses, losses when you expect wins. If you like to play casino slots somewhere like online-casino.mk, or another online casino, you’ll probably also love the thrill of betting on Chelsea.
This isn’t a predictable team, either within games or within seasons. The wave of youngsters brought into the club under the new ownership are full of talent, but the one thing they guarantee you is instability.
In the 14 months under Enzo Maresca they’ve already had a couple of spells of looking unbeatable, and a couple of deep wobbles that at times looked potentially terminal.
The game against Liverpool on Saturday saw them at their very best.
In attack they looked dangerous. Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho pressed superbly and stopped the Reds finding any momentum.
In midfield, Moises Caicedo continued his absurd run of form, helped by Enzo Fernandez grafting away as always.
In defence, a makeshift back line did really well and protected Robert Sanchez superbly. Even when the first choice pair of centre backs went off, reducing us to playing full backs in the middle, they kept their shape and their discipline.
All the while the raucous Stamford Bridge crowd cheered on their team with gusto. Oh, speaking of which, Gusto was really good as a midfielder too, running all day and always offering an option.
Yet how can that team be the same one that played so poorly against Man U, Brentford, Brighton and Lincoln in preceding weeks?
A lot has to do with the opposition, we think. Liverpool came out and attacked us, giving us space to operate. Once we had the lead following Moises Caicedo’s thunderbolt, that dynamic became even more exaggerated. We face a defensive Nottingham Forest team after the break who are surely going to sit deep and keep things tight, even with new manager Ange Postecoglou in charge.
There were also 2 red cards in that run of games which changed things – but those reds are all part of the inexperience anyway. We can expect more indiscipline from this group in the weeks and years to come – but hopefully less and less of it as they mature.
It’s fun to bet on this unpredictable Chelsea now – but it will be a lot more fun to have a consistent winning machine to support.
